On Thursday, ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ ๐๐, ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฆ ๐๐:๐๐, we invite you to the ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ผ๐๐ ๐ฝ๐ค๐ค๐ ๐๐๐ช๐ฃ๐๐, at Rezidenศa9 (I.L.Caragiale 32).
The FLOWING STREAMS project comes to an end with the launch of the publication of the same name, which brings together the research work that the artists and practitioners involved in the project have carried out this year in rural areas of Romania. This publication, coordinated by Nicoleta Moise, compiles a living archive of a situated cultural ecology of waters: between what can be potentially restored as infrastructures, practices or knowledge and what can be rethought as a way of responding to the specificities of a place and in relation to the global effects of climate change.
The multi-residency project ๐
๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, an initiative of EUNIC Romania, curated by Adelina Luft, facilitated an exercise in bridging: between artistic proposals and the rural world, between European practitioners and local organizations, and between existing hydrological conditions and future possibilities for restoring the relationship between people and water.
Pawel Rutkowski (EUNIC/Polish Institute), Adelina Luft (curator of Flowing Streams), Nicoleta Moise (publication coordinator) will be in conversation with Rucsandra Pop (author) on the topic of the human-water relationship.

The FLOWING STREAMS ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐๐ข๐๐ฌ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐๐๐ญ on the cultural ecology of water took place during 2024 and involved artists from 7 countries. (Polish Institute) and curated by ๐๐๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ญ, it was conceived as a series of short-term residencies for artists and practitioners based in seven countries affiliated to the network of European cultural institutes in Romania.
In the spring of 2024, following an open call, from 170 applications, the project team selected seven residents, each supported by a cultural institute in their home country:ย ๐๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐ง ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐จ๐ง (UK) at ๐๐ง ๐๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐๐ฑ๐ญ ๐๐ฅฤ๐ง๐ข๐ ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐ – British Council Romania, ๐รก๐๐ฅ๐๐ฏ ล ๐๐ง๐ (Czech Republic) at the๐๐ฑ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ฌ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ก ๐๐ญ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ข๐๐ – Czech Center, ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ข๐๐ฆ๐๐ฌ๐ณ๐ค๐จ (Poland) at ๐๐๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ซ๐๐ญ – Polish Institute, ๐ฐ๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฒ๐๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ (๐๐๐ฅ๐ ๐๐ซรถ๐ค๐๐ฅ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ง ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ, Netherlands) at the ๐๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ง ๐๐๐ฌ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐๐ฒ – Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ ๐รก๐ฅ (Romania) at ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐๐ศ๐ข๐- Fundaศia9, ๐๐จ๐๐ง๐ง๐ ๐ฏ๐จ๐ง ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐๐ง (Germany) at ๐๐๐๐๐๐ – ๐๐๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ ๐จ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐ง๐๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐๐ง๐๐ซ๐ฌ – Goethe-Institut Bucharest and ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ ๐ข๐ (Italy) at ๐๐๐๐ (๐รข๐ซศ๐ขศ๐จ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ) – Italian Cultural Institute in Bucharest. During the summer, they conducted research in the respective spaces, hosted by local organizations, to explore the interconnection between water, land and life and to create a space for co-learning and mutual listening by involving practitioners from different fields and local people.
In their short visits, the people in residence have taken on the role of mapping the social and cultural imbalances affecting water relations beyond the immediate reality of brutal drought, and their findings as well as their suggested proposals, approaches and possible local interventions can be found in the limited-edition publication ๐
