Bernard Joisten lives and works in Paris and Bucharest. Since the beginning he has been working as an artist and curator, always attentive to formal and aesthetic contents as well as to scenographic and mediation devices. He has been noticed for his participation in important exhibitions such as L’Hiver de l’amour, Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and Elysian Fields, Centre Pompidou. Recent solo exhibitions include Illimité, Frac Basse Normandie, Caen; Zero Story, Centrul Artelor Vizuale Multimedia, Bucharest, 2020; Societatea Item-urilor, Musette Kube, Bucharest; Turbomodernisme, Espace Aragon, Villard-Bonnot and Joistenland, LeiLei Gallery.
„I started to think about ‘turbomodernism’ via 3D images, drawing from the idea that science fiction had replaced the Avant-garde, dead following the arrival of post-modernism. Science fiction represents the access to the future without passing by the idea of the tabula rasa. It stages the idea of the new in the manner of a special effect.”
